A while ago it was reported that eating diseased meat was going on – for a year – in the US, and it has now been recalled.
Well we know most of it isn’t being recalled! It’s already been eaten. I don’t know what percentage of it could be still sitting on the shelves or in freezers among the ingredients in processed foods.
This really brings a point home that animal rights activists are always railing about – animals are kept in poor conditions and are fork-lifted or dragged into the truck going to slaughter. If they can’t stand up and walk might they not be diseased?
This surely isn’t a system in which diseased animals would be detected. And just what is this disease?
How many healthy animals were exposed to the diseased ones on the feed lots? Many grass fed animals are fattened up for a few days before slaughter – fed GMO grains. I don’t know if they are injected with the fatten-up drugs (that we then eat) or not.
I am going to look for more information about the best meats to eat. Not that it is in any way the fault of these poor animals. GMO vs Non-GMO, fed added hormones, or not.
We all must manage our personal risk as what else can we do?
I wonder if we’ll get any pertinent data about this – ever… I’m hoping! Always!
